Explore Fraser Island. Spot the dingo.

Fraser Island is a 76 miles long island on the east coast of Australia. Know as the biggest sand island in the world, it is a famous tourist attraction. Local tourist agencies offer trips on the island. The island can be reached whether by ferry or by chartered flight. However, you can also explore the island on your own initiative. But consider: All-wheel drive is necessary, as most streets are not asphalted. On the island you find rainforests, sand dunes, eucalyptus woodland, shipwrecks and astonishing lakes like the Lake McKenzie. Touristic highlight are driving the All-wheel drive at the beach and a scenic flight over the island, which lands and takes off from the beach (FraserIsland, 2019).

Be dingo safe:

Don’t feed, don’t walk alone, don’t run and lock your food

Another reason to visit the island is its variety of animals. Next to flying foxes and possums, the island inhabit a large population of dingos. The dingo is a ginger coloured native Australian dog, which is widely common throughout the country. However, the threatened species it is wild and not tamed. Do not feed them! It is recommended to not walk alone on the island, without any type of protection. If you see a dingo, do not run or wave your arms, but stand still, face the dingo and walk calmly back away (Queensland Government, 2016). Would you like to go to Fraser Island?
