Typical aboriginal art
Hey travel buddies,
this post deals with the people, living in Australia: Australians and Aboriginal Australians.
Australians
Australians are generally known for numerous things. They love sports, have a laid-back nature, are easy going and very friendly. Moreover, Australians have a unique English accent, love to abbreviate words or use completely different words instead. Here are some examples:
Australian – British English:
Aussie – Australian
arvo – afternoon
BYO – bring your own
barbie – barbecue
waterhole – billabong
roo – kangaroo
mossie – mosquito
footy – Australian rules football
Straya / Oz – Australia
esky – cool box
thongs – flip-flops
biccy – biscuit
How ya goin? – How are you?
pom / pommie – English person (Smith, 2018)
Aboriginal Australians
The Aboriginal Australians are the indigenous people of Australia. They inhabited Australia around 50,000 to 100,000 years ago. Now they make up around 3 % of Australia’s population. The Aboriginal art is definitely worth seeing. Thousands of years old rock art and bark paintings can be found in numerous national parks. Moreover, they are famous for their wind instrument called Didgeridoo and the Boomerang, a returning wooden tool, used for hunting.

However, in terms of life expectancy, education, employment and health, Aborigines come off significantly worse than the average Australian. When interacting with Aboriginal people, it is recommended to show respect to their culture and their elders. As a sign of respect, you should also respect their traditional laws. These traditional laws, amongst others, forbid the climbing of the Uluru. The Uluru, also know as Ayers Rock, is a holy place for the Aboriginal Australians. Nevertheless, tour operators provide the opportunity to climb Uluru (Rae, 2017; Tonkinson, 2019).
Watch here how Aboriginal people create the unique paintings:

Hello Mr. Meissner. I really enjoyed your travel blog! I never went to australia so far. I got a question to you: Is your soleus so big because you walked to ayers rock every morning? I need some improvement in my outer soleus section and planning to visit ayers rock soon. How is your experience? Maybe you have some mass gaining hints for me ?! Eating Koalas and Kanguruus would be my nutrition plan to make some serious gains down under.
greeting from cold rainy Germany,
Marvin

Dear Marvin,
thank you very much for taking your time to comment on this blog post as well as for your interest in my soleus. Thank you as well for your flattering words about the size of my calves. However, I never climbed the Ayers Rock, due to the fact that the traditional Aboriginal laws prohibit that. In my point of view, tourists should always respect the people of the country they are going to and treat the environment with respect and decency.
Moreover, I am happy to help you with sorting out your meat preparation when going Down Under: As Koalas are endangered in Australia, it is strictly prohibited to eat them. However, you can certainly make some serious gains by eating Kangaroo meat! There are around 45 million Kangaroo living in Australia at the moment, twice as much as the human population. It is officially allowed to eat them. Their meat is a delicacy and it is easy to find in supermarkets and restaurants. Moreover, it is assumed to be exceptionally healthy as it is low in saturated fat and high in protein. Additionally, it has a high amount of iron and zinc.
Enjoy your meal and safe travels
